Every year on April 22nd, we get the chance to celebrate our amazing planet on Earth Day - yay!

This global movement is dedicated to environmental protection and raising awareness about the importance of caring for our planet.

What began in 1970 as a grassroots campaign has now grown into one of the largest movements in the world, with over 1 billion people participating across 190+ countries.

The message of Earth Day is simple: we only have one earth, and we must act now to protect it.

With things like climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss become more present year after year, it’s time to make some more sustainable choices in our homes, our habits, and the products we choose.

Let’s talk about some of the steps Give Me is taking to help our planet!

🌊 Packaging Changes

 

 

First up, we’ve been making some changes when developing our newer skincare products.

 

In a step to help reduce plastic waste in the environment - especially in our oceans - we’ve created packaging that includes:

 

• 35% Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP): Our Hypochlorous Acid Face Spray is made from 35% POP, which is plastic collected from coastal areas before it reaches the ocean.
• 30% Post-Consumer Recycled Plastic (PCR): Some of our newly released skincare products - Niacinamide Serum, Retinol Serum, and Azelaic Acid Cream - are made from 30% PCR; repurposed materials from consumer waste which helps to reduce landfill volume.
  

 

By using recycled and responsibly sourced plastic, we’re helping to cut down on virgin plastic production (the production of new plastics from raw materials), conserving energy, and supporting better economical practices.

♻️ Resuable Skincare Tools

 

 

Did you know that single-use makeup wipes take up to 100 years to break down in landfill?! 

 

And globally, over 20 million wipes are thrown away each day, which only clog our water systems and release microplastics into the environment.

 

This Earth Day, why not make the switch to reusable options that are gentler on your skin and the Earth?

 

• Bamboo Pads: Our ultra-soft Bamboo Pads are washable and made from sustainable bamboo fibres. Use them, wash them, reuse them - again and again, and again!
• Eco Pads: Then we’ve got our Eco Pads, a convenient, eco-friendly tool designed to replace hundreds of disposable wipes over its lifetime. 

By making this simple switch, you’ll be helping to reduce waste, minimise pollution, and lower your carbon footprint.

 

🧼 Fun Fact: One person using reusable pads instead of wipes can prevent over 1,000 disposable wipes from ending up in landfill each year!

🌍 An Ongoing Commitment

 

 

There’s definitely more work to be done, but we’re not stopping here!

 

At Give Me Cosmetics, sustainability is a journey, and we’re constantly looking for new ways to improve our processes, source better materials, and empower our customers to make more conscious choices!

 

We also recently joined OPRL to help our customers know what is recyclable when it comes to our packaging. This work goes towards OPRL's vision of 'a world where packaging doesn't go to waste'!
