Winter Self-Care
Self-care is about more than just how we eat and exercise, it’s about how we feel on the inside, too.
And as the winter months creep their way in with their dark nights and cold weather, it’s important that we know how to take care of ourselves through the end of the year.
Read on to find out how to take care of yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually this winter.
Mental Care During Winter
We’re sure you’ve heard people talking about SAD (seasonal affective disorder) when it comes to the winter months.
Sometimes also known as winter depression, SAD symptoms can show up more during the colder months, brought on by a lack of exposure to sunlight.
While this may not affect everyone tremendously, it is definitely something that can have an impact on our personal and professional lives.
Symptoms of SAD include:
- A constantly low mood
- Loss of pleasure or interest in everyday activities
- Irritability
- Feeling lethargic
And unfortunately, lots more.
It’s important that we take care of our mental health during these months and the NHS offer support on when to visit a GP if you’re struggling.
One small thing you can do every day and something we’d suggest trying it practicing gratitude.
Whether it’s setting time aside to sit down and journal what you’re grateful for, or organising time to spend with loved ones you’re grateful to, make time to remember everything you have to be thankful for.
And remember, being able to show yourself love is something to be grateful for, too.
Physical Care During Winter
While the darker nights mean that sunset runs could take a back seat, this could be a perfect time to utilise that gym membership that’s been collecting dust!
Plus, if you’re not much of a gym-goer, there are tonnes of home workouts online, ranging from those with equipment to those that are apartment/ small-space friendly.
You could even go on a crisp winter walk, getting wrapped up in your coat, hat, scarf, and gloves.
The key here is just keeping yourself moving to keep your body feeling good.
Self-Care During Winter
We all know what comes along with winter, and that’s dry skin, but alongside caring for that, there are also tonnes of ways to pamper ourselves during the dark nights.
Both perfect for dry skin and for a pampering session, our Hyaluronic Acid Sheet Mask offers a little bit of luxury for any day of the week.
Why not plan a self-care evening, grab your favourite drink, throw on your favourite pair of pyjamas, and pop one of these face masks on for the ultimate hydration?
Keeping our skin clear of old skin cells is key during the winter months and our Sea Salt Body Scrubs do just that.
Infused with naturally derived salts and oils they effectively clear the skin of dead skin cells, and moisturise it, leaving it feeling soft and supple all day long.
Nothing says relaxing quite like a warm bath, a few candles, and a good book! Oh, except our Coco Blush Bath Salts, of course.
Throw a few of these into your next bath, have a soak, rest, and recuperate.
Although it may be cold and dark, there’s something cosy about the winter, isn’t there? We’d also suggest trying to embrace the cosy, festive period with a skincare set designed just for it!
Our Snow-Kissed Saver Set is curated with everything you need to give your skin that extra bit of self-care it deserves this winter.
And for overall beauty and health benefits, our Biotin Gummies are here to help!
They have tonnes of body-loving benefits, including increasing energy levels - something we can all benefit from at this time of year.
Now you know how to show yourself some love this winter, make the most of the cosy months! (Seriously, it’ll be summer again before we know it!)
